The number of units your group will build is determined by the size of your group. StudentBuddy requires a minimum order of 10 units. We suggest providing one unit per team of 3-4.
StudentBuddy PowerUP provides solar units to schools, children and families living in remote areas of the world experiencing energy poverty. We give companies, like yours, the opportunity to illuminate children’s lives. You can make a tangible difference by constructing and donating StudentBuddy units, providing essential light and charging capabilities to children and families living in energy poverty. The StudentBuddy solar devices feature three light settings, a solar panel for recharging, and USB ports for charging two devices simultaneously. Designed with sustainability in mind, all components are replaceable, and the aluminium parts are 100% recyclable. During the event, your team will be educated about the importance of renewable energy and the ever-growing negative effect of energy poverty. The best part is, that they become integral to the solution, assembling solar units destined for families without access to electricity. Working in teams of 3-4, delegates will assemble a StudentBuddy which will be donated to high school students in developing countries to power and illuminate their family’s home.
The SolarBuddy activity requires an indoor space set cabaret style as well as a projector and screen.
Once all the solar units have been assembled, they are distributed to children in need via our amazing local aid agencies who specialise in operating education programs in the countries they work in.
The countries that currently receive StudentBuddy units include Tanzania, Dominican Republic, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, East Timor, Cambodia, India, and South Africa.
StudentBuddy units are delivered within 3 months of assembly and we will forward you through a distribution report with photos and impact statistics.

Yes, every StudentBuddy unit is checked and ensured it has been assembled properly prior to distribution.
We require a large indoor space set cabaret style with a projector and screen. For groups over 20 people we also require a microphone.
The units will be at their new home within 3 months of assembly to avoid damage to the battery.
